Seqenta – Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Seqenta Ltd (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates the Seqenta platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your information when you use our services.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all users (“Users”) of the Seqenta platform, including visitors, registered users, and subscribers. It covers data collected through the website, application, APIs, and related services.

In this Policy, “Users” is used in the broad sense described above. Where this Policy addresses matters that are also governed by our Terms of Service, capitalised terms used but not separately defined in this Policy (including “Services”, “Customer”, “Authorised User”, “Events”, “Insights” and “Exposure Guidance”) have the meanings given to them in our Terms of Service.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Personal Data

We may collect the following personal information:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Phone number (for SMS alerts)
  • Job title and company name
  • Billing and payment information
  • Authentication credentials and login activity

3.2 Usage & Technical Data

We automatically collect certain technical data when you access our platform, including:

  • IP address and approximate location
  • Browser type, device type, and operating system
  • Pages visited, features used, and time spent
  • Referral source
  • Crash reports and performance data

3.3 User-Generated Content

If you submit Flags (as defined in our Ecosystem & User-Generated Content Terms) or other content through the platform, we collect and store that content along with associated metadata (e.g. timestamps, user identifiers).

3.4 Information Obtained from Third Parties

Seqenta may obtain information about companies and organisations from public and third-party sources, including corporate registries, regulatory and government sources, licensed data providers, news publications and other commercial or publicly available sources.

Such information may include company financial information, corporate events, filings, ownership information, directorship information, regulatory information, commercial information and other information relevant to company monitoring and analysis.

Where such information contains personal data relating to identifiable individuals, Seqenta will process that information in accordance with applicable data protection law and this Privacy Policy.

4. How We Use Your Data

4.1 We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the platform
  • Process subscriptions and payments
  • Send alerts and notifications (email and SMS)
  • Respond to support requests and enquiries
  • Improve, personalise, and develop new features
  • Monitor platform security and prevent abuse
  • Conduct analytics and generate aggregated insights relating to company activity, financial patterns, and operational developments
  • Comply with legal obligations

4.2 Company Intelligence, Automated Analysis and Exposure Guidance

Seqenta obtains and analyses information from public records, corporate registries, regulatory and government sources, licensed data providers, news publications and other third-party sources to provide company intelligence and related Services.

Seqenta may combine information from multiple sources and use automated systems, statistical models, algorithms and other analytical methodologies to identify Events, generate alerts, calculate financial scores and analytical indicators, and generate Exposure Guidance.

Seqenta may separately use artificial intelligence (“AI”) and other automated technologies to assist with the summarisation and presentation of company information, including information obtained from news publications, Companies House filings, corporate changes and filed company financial information.

Exposure Guidance has the meaning given to it in Seqenta’s Terms of Service: analytical and decision-support information generated by Seqenta concerning a company’s potential financial, credit, commercial or operational exposure, based on information and indicators available to Seqenta at the relevant time. Exposure Guidance may change as new information becomes available or existing information is corrected, updated or removed.

The Services are designed to provide information about companies and organisations. Where information relating to identifiable individuals is contained within data obtained from public or third-party sources, or is submitted through the platform, Seqenta may process that information where permitted by applicable data protection law and for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

Exposure Guidance, Insights, scores, Events, alerts and other automated outputs are not intended to constitute an assessment of an individual’s personal creditworthiness, financial circumstances or suitability.

Where personal data is processed in connection with automated or AI-assisted analysis, Seqenta will process that data in accordance with applicable data protection law and the rights described in this Privacy Policy.

5. Aggregation and Anonymisation

Seqenta may aggregate, pseudonymise and, where appropriate, anonymise personal data and user-generated content collected through the platform for purposes including analytics, benchmarking, service improvement, product development and the development of aggregated insights and commercial data products.

Where personal data has been effectively anonymised so that an individual is no longer identifiable by reasonably available means, the resulting anonymised information will no longer constitute personal data under applicable data protection law. Seqenta may use and share such anonymised information for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy and for other lawful purposes.

Where information has only been pseudonymised or remains capable of being linked to an identifiable individual, it will continue to be treated as personal data and will be processed in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable data protection law.

Anonymisation does not affect any separate contractual, intellectual property, confidentiality, licensing or other legal restrictions that may apply to the underlying information.

6. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data on the following bases:

  • Contract: Processing necessary for the performance of our service agreement with you
  • Legitimate interests: For fraud prevention, security, analytics, and service improvement, including the development of analytics, insights, and commercial data products
  • Consent: Where you have given explicit consent (e.g. marketing communications)
  • Legal obligation: Where required by applicable law or regulation

7. Data Sharing

7.1 Company and Third-Party Information

Seqenta processes information about companies and organisations obtained from public records, corporate registries, regulatory and government sources, licensed data providers, news publications and other third-party sources. Such information may include information relating to directors, officers, beneficial owners, shareholders or other identifiable individuals where such information forms part of the underlying company information.

Seqenta may use third-party artificial intelligence services to assist in summarising publicly available company information, including news articles, Companies House filings, corporate changes and company financial information. Seqenta does not intentionally submit personal data to third-party AI services used for these summarisation purposes.

7.2 Third-Party Service Providers and Sub-processors

Seqenta uses third-party service providers to support the operation, security and delivery of the Services, including providers of authentication, database infrastructure, hosting, security, communications, payment processing, analytics and AI-assisted technologies.

Where such providers process personal data on behalf of Seqenta, they will be subject to appropriate contractual obligations and safeguards in accordance with applicable data protection law.

A current list of material third-party service providers and sub-processors that process personal data on behalf of Seqenta is available upon request. Seqenta may update or replace such providers from time to time, subject to applicable data protection requirements.

7.3 Aggregated and Anonymised Data

We may share aggregated and anonymised information with third parties, including commercial partners, for purposes including analytics, benchmarking, product development and commercial data products. Where information has been effectively anonymised in accordance with Section 5, it will no longer constitute personal data under applicable data protection law.

7.4 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information where required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Seqenta, its users, or the public.

7.5 Affiliates, Introductions and Third-Party Products

Seqenta may from time to time display, communicate information about, provide access to, facilitate introductions to, or otherwise make services available offered by third-party providers or affiliates, including services relating to insurance, trade finance, corporate finance, treasury, foreign exchange, payments, banking, credit, lending and other business services.

Where you choose to enquire about, access or use a third-party product or service, Seqenta may share relevant personal data with the relevant provider where necessary to facilitate your request, introduction, referral or application, or where otherwise permitted by applicable data protection law. The information shared will be limited to what is reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose. Where the relevant provider acts as an independent controller, it will process personal data it receives in accordance with its own privacy notice and applicable law.

Seqenta may receive commissions, referral fees, revenue shares or other commercial benefits in connection with certain third-party introductions, referrals or arrangements. Where required by applicable law, the existence and nature of such commercial relationships will be disclosed to you.

Seqenta does not guarantee, endorse or independently assess the suitability, performance, financial standing or regulatory status of any third-party provider or product unless expressly stated otherwise.

Where marketing communications or promotional activity require consent under applicable law, Seqenta will obtain the appropriate consent or otherwise rely on a lawful basis permitted by applicable law.

8. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside the United Kingdom. Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or adequacy decisions, to protect your data in accordance with UK GDPR.

9. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Specifically:

  • Active account data: retained while your subscription is active
  • Inactive accounts: data may be retained for up to 5 years before deletion
  • Audit and operational logs: retained for a minimum of 30 days
  • User-generated content: personal data is retained in accordance with applicable retention requirements; information that has been effectively anonymised may be retained indefinitely
  • Backups: follow a rolling retention policy

Upon account deletion, we will remove your personal data within a reasonable timeframe, subject to legal retention obligations.

10. User-Generated Content and Responsibility

If you submit Flags or other content through the platform, you are responsible for ensuring that your submissions are lawful and do not infringe the rights of others. User-generated content may be visible to other platform users and may be used in aggregated data products. Please refer to the Ecosystem & User-Generated Content Terms for full details.

11. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Rectification: Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data
  • Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data
  • Restriction: Request limitation of processing
  • Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Object: Object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw at any time

12. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including:

  • Encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest
  • Multi-factor authentication
  • Role-based access controls
  • Regular security assessments
  • Audit logging of sensitive actions

While we take reasonable precautions, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

13. Cookies and Browser Storage

Seqenta uses cookies and similar browser technologies to operate the Services, maintain secure authentication, remember certain interface preferences and support navigation within the application.

We currently use strictly necessary authentication cookies provided by our authentication provider, Auth0. These cookies are required to enable secure sign-in and maintain your authenticated session and cannot be disabled if you wish to use an authenticated Seqenta account.

Seqenta does not currently use advertising, remarketing or third-party analytics cookies. We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to understand website and application usage and performance; these services are configured not to use cookies or create persistent identifiers.

Seqenta may also store limited information in your browser using local storage and session storage. This includes interface preferences and temporary navigation or application state. Such information is used to provide and improve the functionality of the Services and, where applicable, remains in your browser until cleared or automatically expires.

You can clear cookies and browser storage through your browser settings. Clearing strictly necessary authentication cookies or relevant browser storage may affect your ability to sign in or use certain features of the Services.

14. Third-Party Links

Our platform may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

15. Governing Law

This Policy, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it (including non-contractual disputes or claims), is governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction, without prejudice to your right under applicable data protection law to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office or another competent supervisory authority.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or platform notification. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
